APRIL 2020: AMERICA’S CUP WORLD SERIES STARTS IN SARDINIA
An international event will be staged in the Sardinian sea, next year.
The first America’s Cup World Series (ACWS) regatta of the 36th America’s Cup cycle will take place right in Cagliari, South Sardinia, Italy, from April 23 – 26, 2020. Will be the first official step to Auckland 2021 and the first chance to see the new boats – the revolutionary AC75 Class foiling monohulls – in an official regatta.
Taking place in the beautiful city of Cagliari on the sun-drenched Italian Mediterranean island of Sardegna (Sardinia) from April 18 – 26 2020, the opening event of the three-regatta ACWS circuit sees the teams competing in the 36th America’s Cup presented by Prada racing their first generation AC75 high-performance foiling monohulls against each other for the very first time.
As such it’s a key milestone in this latest edition of the America’s Cup, when the Defender – Emirates Team New Zealand – and the Challengers – Challenger of Record, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team, INEOS Team UK, NYYC American Magic, and Stars + Stripes Team USA – as well as America’s Cup fans all around the world, find out how the revolutionary new boats perform against each other ahead of the Prada Cup Challenger Series and the 36th America’s Cup Match in 2021.
The ACWS Sardegna Race Village in Cagliari – packed with lots of fun entertainment for all the family – opens on Wednesday April 22, with racing taking place daily from Thursday April 23 to Sunday April 26.
