THE LEGEND OF THE CASTLE OF FAVA…OR HOW WAS SAVED THE WONDERFUL POSADA, PEARL OF SARDINIA
Posada is a popular tourist center of Sardinia that, thanks to the many awards of Legambiente and Touring Club for its coastline, is considered among the most evocative of Italy. A wonderful village that amazes all visitors.
Among the most popular sites we recommend a visit to the Castle of the Fava, located on a hill overlooking the village, not far from the sea. Dates from the thirteenth century, was in the Middle Ages seat of the judges of Gallura and Eleanor of Arborea, and always fought for its location on the border between the two judged. You can not visit without knowing the legend from which it derives the name of this monument. Today we want to tell it.
It is said that around 1300 a fleet of Saracens landed on the coasts of Posada. Foreigners laid siege to the area with the aim to win once the population had been exhausted by hunger. People were exhausted and unable to sustain any battle. However, it so happened that during one of the many meetings of the Judges, who had their own home in one of the towers, someone designed an idea that turned out brilliant and saved them: they did eat a pigeon to a handful of beans, wounded him a little and they did fly to the enemy camps. The pigeon fell right into the tents of the Saracens, who, noticed the bizarre animal’s swelling, the disemboweled and found there the beans. They thought then that, if the population had so much food to be able to yield a large amount in a volatile, they had no chance of winning thanks to their initial plan and given the difficult configuration of the land. So the Saracens, following this reasoning, and sailed Posada celebrations for the salvation obtained lasted for days.
