TOP 10 BEACHES OF THE MEDITERRANEAN

Annunci

Traveling to Europe during the summer can be so much more than just visiting old buildings and museums. This is our selection of the most beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean, although there are many more to discover.

1. Bolonia Beach, Cadiz (Spain)

This is one of the last unspoiled beaches of southern Spain and is very beautiful thanks to its impressive dunes (from which you can see North Africa) and its enormous size.

Beside the beach, surrounded by pine trees, you can visit the ruins of the Roman city of Baelo Claudia. This beach is also a favorite spot for surfers from all over Europe (also nudists who enjoy its tranquility).

2. Ses Illetas Formentera (Spain)

Unlike the nearby Ibiza, the small island of Formentera is an oasis of calm and beauty, with beaches of transparent waters and fine sand mixed with coral pink powder.

Ses Illetas, the most famous beach of the island, is part of a protected area and the unique algae that live in its waters have been declared World Heritage Site by Unesco.

3. Beach Oludeniz, Mugla (Turkey)

This is a huge beach with turquoise waters surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery.

Not only that, there is also a lagoon that is connected to the beach by a nice road full of greenery, where plenty of ducks and geese live quietly. Incidentally, it is also a great place to practice paragliding, if you’re more adventurous.

4. Playa Porto-Pollo, Corsica (France)

The island of Corsica is home to the most beautiful beaches in Mediterranean France.

To the south is the beach of Porto-Pollo, a great arc of white sand in a bay surrounded by green hills. It’s ideal for snorkeling, thanks to its crystal clear waters and abundant marine life.

5. Bay Chia, Sardinia (Italy)

On the south coast of Sardinia Bay is Chia, whose tower dominates a vast sand dune beach with fine white powder, surrounded by greenery.

Nearby are the remains of Bithia, one of the most important cities of the Carthaginian Sardinia, as well as those of the Punic city of Nora.

6. Fetovaia Beach (Italy)

A boat ride away from Tuscany is the beautiful island of Elba, where the green forests and blue beaches turn the landscape into a natural paradise.

Fetovaia beach, with its crystal clear waters, is perhaps the most beautiful corner of the island.

7. Balos Beach, Crete (Greece)

This gem is in the Gramvoussa peninsula, northwest of the island of Crete.

This means it doesn’t have easy access, as it can only be reached by boat from the port of Kissamos, or by walking along a path through the rocks. But the experience is worth the excursion as the beach is a beautiful natural lagoon, similar to the Caribbean Sea. It’s ideal for those who want to escape the crowds.

8. Myrtos Beach, Kefalonia (Greece)

Kefalonia is one of the largest Greek islands, and home to what many consider the most beautiful beach in Greece and one of the best in the world.

Located at the foot of a stunning cliff, its sands stretch for many miles and the place is famous for its beautiful waters with changing hues depending of the time of day.

9. Zlatni Rat Beach, Bol (Croatia)

Bol is a tourist area on the island of Brac, and its most famous beach is Zlatni Rat, which has a curious triangular shape. One of the more fashionable beaches of the Mediterranean, this beach is attracting many celebrities and also surfers, as the climatic conditions are ideal for water sports.

10. Blue Lagoon, Comino (Malta)

The name of this beach does justice to its appearance: it’s a natural pool of pristine turquoise waters, surrounded by a coastline of golden sand and a rocky environment that gives a rustic and wild image to the area. It is located on the small island of Comino, far away from mass tourism.
